5+ suppliersFood grade baking soda (meetha soda), the main chemical raising agent for biscuits, cookies, cakes, farsan such as dhokla and khaman, papad and jaggery, and a buffer and carbonation aid in beverages. It releases carbon dioxide when heated or when it meets an acid. FSSAI Appendix A permits it at GMP; buyers should ask for FSSAI licensed food grade, not industrial soda.
