Food testing labs in India

NABL-accredited tests: nutrition panel, contaminants, claims like gluten-free, shelf life.

Testing labs check what is in your product and whether it is safe: the nutrition panel for your label, contaminants and microbiology, shelf life, and tests that prove claims such as gluten-free or high protein. For regulatory purposes, use a lab accredited by NABL for the specific test.

What to check before you choose

  • NABL accreditation for the test

Accreditation is per test and per scope. Check the lab’s scope on the NABL website covers the exact test you need.

  • FSSAI notification

For tests that FSSAI asks for, check whether the lab is on FSSAI’s list of notified labs.

  • Sample size and turnaround

Ask how much product to send and how many days the report takes, especially before a launch date.

  • What the report states

Make sure the report names your product and batch and states the method used, so it holds up if a buyer or inspector asks.
