Non-ionic ethoxylated sorbitan esters used as solubilisers and oil-in-water emulsifiers. Polysorbate 20 (laurate) is preferred for dissolving fragrance and essential oils into toners, mists and gels; polysorbate 80 (oleate) for emulsifying heavier oils. Common use is 1 to 5%, or about 2 to 4 parts per part of oil being solubilised.
